MISSION:

The mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Aha Macav is to provide a positive environment, quality programs and lifelong learning skills for all school-aged children in Mohave Valley and surrounding communities. Boys and Girls are given the opportunity to develop friendships, respect and self-esteem. To accomplish this mission our staff, volunteers and support organizations share the common values of honesty, integrity, demonstrated caring qualities and positive attitudes. The Board of Governors and Board of Directors are committed to providing policy, direction and developing the financial resources necessary for the operation of the Club.

SERVICES AVAILABLE:

  • Keystone Club
      1. Small group leadership development club for young people ages 14-18 years

    Keystone club members elect officers, choose their own activities and plan and implement community service projects

  • Youth of the Year
    1. Sponsored by the Reader’s Digest Foundation
    2. Designed to promote and recognize service to the Club, Community, Academic Performance and Contributions to family and spiritual life
    3. Each Youth of the Year is selected by the Club and sent to Regional and National Competitions to represent the club
  • Torch Club
    1. Small group leadership development club for youth ages 11-13 years
    2. Members elect officers and plan and implement their own activities and community service projects
  • Career Launch
    1. Career exploration and mentoring for teens ages 13-18 years
  • CLUB Service
    1. Provides education awards to Club members ages 17-18 years and Club alumni ages 19-24 years who serve their clubs and community
  • Goals for Graduation
      1. Introduces Club members ages 6-15 years to the concept of Academic Goal Setting

    One-on-One sessions with Club Staff, members set achievable, “Know I Can”; Challenging, “Think I Can” and Yearly, “Believe I Can” goals. As well as create Action Plans to achieve them

  • Junior Staff
  1. Assists Club members ages 13-18 years to explore a career in Youth or Human Services; particularly Boys & Girls Club work
  • Money Matters
    1. Finance literacy program designed to specifically help teens ages 13-18 expand their knowledge of money management and learn skills that lead to financial independence and well being
  • Power Hour
    1. Comprehensive Homework Help and Tutoring Program designed to raise the academic proficiency of Club members ages 6-12 years
  • Healthy Habits
  1. Program aimed to incorporate healthy living and active learning in every part of the Club experience, designed for ages 6-15 years
  • SMART Moves
  1. Skills, Mastery and Resistance Training: prevention/education program addresses problems such as drug and alcohol use and premature sexual acts
  • Bike & Skate Park
    1. Part of Sport, Fitness and Recreation Program
    2. Allows Club members a variety of daily physical education activities that support the development of fundamental motor skills needed for different sports and participates in non-competitive physical education activities

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Membership Application:

  • Obtain a membership registration packet (application and member guidelines, behavioral standards, discipline plan) from the front desk. Currently serving Native American youth, CIB required
  • Parents/guardians should review all information with the member. Both the parent, guardian and new club member need to sign the policy agreement on the reverse side of the membership application
  • Application must be submitted in person to the Club front office so you can be provided with a tour of the Club. Once application is received along with emergency contact information, your child/children will be able to attend. Club member fees are $1.00 per month; fees are waived for foster children and families experiencing financial hardships. NO CHILD IS EVER TURNED AWAY FOR THE INABILITY TO PAY!
  • Transportation is provided to the Arizona and California Villages. When school is in session youth arrive on the school buses and Fort Mojave Education transports California youth to participate in tutoring. After, the youth will come over to the Club from Education or Library and our Staff will transport the child home to the village at the end of the program day
    Children living off the reservation will need to be picked up before the Club’s closing time
