Summary: This position provides a security presence to ensure that tenants have a safe environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • This position is under the general supervision of the Housing Director.
    • The incumbent conduct hourly rounds to ensure that the Housing office and AZ/CA Villages are safe, clean and healthful for the tenants to live.
    • Provides a security presence.
  • Observes and reports any criminal or suspicious activity to the proper authorities.
  • Prepares nightly written reports on activities or problem areas for the Tenant Occupancy Specialist.
  • Maintain telephone and vehicle logs nightly.
  • Adheres to the AMHE’s Security Policy and Procedure and FMIT’s Personnel Policy, and enforce Housing Policies where applicable.
  • May be requested by the Board of Commissioners or Director to attend monthly board meeting and weekly staff meetings.
  • Refrain from direct confrontation regarding serious situations unless unable to do so, at all times use reason, judgement and logic to protect yourself at all times.
  • Maintain and be responsible of the security vehicle.
  • On occasion will do bicycle and foot patrol.
  • Maintain and secure all official equipment assigned.
  • Conduct yourself professionally at all times and perform your duties in a manner that reflects credit upon yourself, the Housing Entity and the position you hold.
  • Observing the precepts of the truth, accuracy and discretion without allowing personal feelings, prejudices, and animosities of friendships to influence your judgement.
  • Assist with eviction process.
  • Ability to travel for training.

Qualifications:

  • At least 6 months of Security Guard/Officer experience.
  • Minimum age requirement is 21 years old.
  • Must have good writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the Tribes auto insurance carrier.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a Drug-Free workplace as a condition of employment.
  • Should have interpersonal Communication skills to receive direction, and exchange information with co-workers, police personnel, and tenants.
  • Able to provide excellent customer service at all times.

Education/Experience:

Must have a High school diploma or General Equivalent Diploma.

Language Ability:

Must Speak English and be able to communicate with staff and police department officials.

Math Ability:

Basic math skills

Reasoning Ability:

Must be able to reason and use logic.

Computer Skills:

Microsoft word and Excel would be a plus but not Mandatory.

Equipment, Machinery, Tools and Materials Utilization: Hand-held radio, bicycle, copy/fax machine, printer, computer and operate video recorder and camera.

 

Certificates and Licenses: Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the Tribe’s auto insurance carrier.

Supervisory Responsibilities None

Work Environment: Professional

 

Physical Demands: Able to lift up to twenty (25) pounds
