Department: Law Enforcement

Summary:  The Beach Patrol Officer reports directly to the on duty Police Supervisor and will be responsible for enforcing Tribal Beach Rules on Tribal Land.

 

Beach Patrol Officers must conduct themselves in a proper and ethical manner at all times while on and off duty.  This Department holds its employees to a higher standard of conduct and all employees are required to sign a Code of Conduct statement and a Code oof Ethics statement.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Will conduct routine patrols of the Tribal Beaches.  Check all persons visiting the Tribal Beaches for a valid beach permit issued by the Tribe.  Check for unauthorized items on the Tribal Beaches, such as glass of any kind, fires outside of a fire ring, illegal drugs, marijuana.  Valid identification required at all times by permit holders.  Please maintain 6 feet minimum distancing at all times while on beaches.  Beach permits do not allow fishing, etc.  Will be required to work weekends, holidays and overtime and can be on-call 24 hours a day.  Will perform other duties determined by the Chief of Police.

 

 

Position Qualifications: 

  • Applicant must be at least 18 years of age at the time the application is submitted to Human Resources.
  • Have a valid Drivers License and must be insurable with the Tribe.
  • Be able to operate an off-road vehicle, quad, side by side, etc.
  • Must be able to operate a police radio after given instruction.
  • Work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Pass a drug test in adherence to the Drug Free Workplace of 1988.
  • Must submit to a background investigation and be fingerprinted.
  • Must provide proof of high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must attend in house training at the Police Department to learn how to operate an Off-Road Vehicle, police radio and attend pepper spray class.
  • Within two months of hire date, attend and be certified in CPR and AED machine.

 

Education

  • Must have valid Driver’s License
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Security Guard training
